THE DESIGN BRIEF
An idea, thoughtfully explored.
The idea is simple: let the available garden length lead the design. A linear pool, discreet access and a narrow palette of materials create a focused swimming space while preserving a route through the garden. Planting softens the boundaries and gives the pool a private setting.

Usable swimming length
The brief should distinguish overall dimensions from the clear length available for swimming. Entry steps, seating and circulation details influence that usable space.

A slender layout still needs practical cleaning, inspection and access. The width of surrounding routes should be considered alongside the water dimensions.
Quiet equipment placement
Plant location, access and noise considerations belong in the initial layout. The garden should not have to absorb an equipment solution left until the end.
